A fruit salad for dessert has withstood the test of time on French menus. The French have an exciting way to spruce up a simple fruit salad by adding fresh squeezed lemon or orange juice. To take it to the next level, add lemon or orange zest and/or fresh basil or mint.

A fruit salad is the perfect example of a healthy dessert. If you normally don't serve dessert, consider this. Dessert is the third course in a meal; it doesn't have to be a rich or sugary option. The benefit of serving dessert is that it helps you serve enough food to satisfy everyone without having to cook something. When using fresh fruit that is in season, you can always make a delicious and healthy third course.

Ingredients

Fresh fruit of the season

Fresh lemon juice or orange juice

Lemon or orange zest

Fresh basil or mint

3. Tear basil or mint leaves and add them to the salad.

4. Fruit salads can be made ahead of time and served for several days. When the juices marinate together, the fruit salad tastes even better.
