Having the right cooking tools will save you time and make cooking easier, and a potato masher is a handy one to have in your kitchen. You can use this for vegetable purées, mashed potatoes, guacamole, and tomato sauce — it smooths out the sauce in minutes. This might be a helpful tip if you have picky eaters who don't care for chunks of tomato in their sauce — it's my solution for my own picky eater.
Any style of potato masher will do. If you don't have one, you might like this one with a curved edge. I find that it makes smoother purées and sauce than spiral-style mashers with larger openings.
I put this idea in a recipe format so you can save the idea in your recipe app. You can create a category for things you want to add to your kitchen, along with notes on how to use them for recipes you like.
